Though the incessant civil war had ravaged most of their farmlands, and with it, countless opportunities to thrive, the farmers of Puthukudiyiruppu (PKY) held on with resolve. They hoped that one day, there’d be a flicker of light at the end of the tunnel. As corporate hospitality icons operating in the northern region of Sri Lanka, The Thinnai Organic, The Thinnai, and AVL Holidays, witnessed firsthand, the hard work put in by the farmers of the land. It was as clear as daylight, that all they needed was a bit of guidance and hand- holding, to achieve the level of farming success that had eluded them for years.
As group companies, with a progressive vision and shared values of uplifting communities, there was no further motivation required to spur our organizations into action. The My Own Farm concept is one positive result, which not only empowers farmers to take up sustainable farming practices but also provides an immediate market for their harvest! The other is The Thinnai Organic’s poultry outgrowing efforts in PKY, which encourage rural women to become successful entrepreneurs.

Packages
- A 3 night stay at The luxurious Thinnai hotel as you first arrive for the planting
- A 2 night stay at The Thinnai during your visit for the first harvest (approx 6 – 8 weeks from the 1st visit)
- A 2 night stay at The Thinnai when you’re there for the final harvest (approx 4 – 6 weeks from the 1st harvest)
- 75% of the vegetable harvest will be at your disposal, to take home, or to sell back to Thinnai Organic
- Home delivery of interim harvest to Colombo at a nominal fee
- Complimentary goody bag including a My Own Farm glass water bottle, themed tee shirt, hat and more
- A village style lunch experience at your farm.
- BBQ dinner at The Thinnai Organic
- Free transport to the farm and back
- The cost per person per night on sharing basis is Rs 12,750.00
Inclusive of a 7 night stay, the Royal Harvest remains the King of all packages and provides you with the complete My Own Farm experience
Inclusive of a 5 night stay, the Queen’s basket contains an impressive array of benefits and also allows you to choose between being present for the first, or the final harvest
- A 3 night stay at the luxurious Thinnai hotel as you first arrive for the planting.

- 100kgs of the vegetables harvested will be at your disposal, to take home or sell back to Thinnai Organic.
